The Winter 2009 issue of "
In Style Weddings" is on the newsstands. So are lots of copies of wedding magazines with different titles. What makes this issue unique, you ask???
On page 314 there is an article titled "I Thee Web" It's the first article I've seen written this well about planning your wedding online. While online is a GREAT place do do wedding research, there are just some things that should not be done online. This article addresses these things.
Under the section Look But Don't Buy they talk about ordering gowns online. Here's a quote:
"Unsavvy brides can wind up heartbroken when a cheap copy arrives from a discount e-tailer. Always deal with reputable real-life boutiques. Remember, given how different gowns can look (and fit) in person, you must try them on. Period."
Beautifully said, "In Style Weddings"!!! This same advice also applies to bridesmaid's dresses, for all of the same reasons! With bridesmaid's gowns you're dealing with so many more people and the fit and quality of the garment is very important! Each bride I've assisted lately seems to have at least 2 or more bridesmaid's out of town too, it is very normal. This is further complicated by online ordering!
Take it from the professionals. Gown buying is a very dangerous thing to do online! It can be very expensive too as the perceived savings aren't there! Or you have to reorder a new gown as the online gown is unwearable!
Do your homework online, look at the gorgeous gown photos online. Then head to a real bridal salon for the fun and worthwhile experience of trying them on and choosing what is right for your wedding! And yes, I've heard these online brides horrow stories first hand!
