MBBA Summer Meeting in Michigan

Last week I was in Michigan for the summer meeting of the Midwest Bridal Association. Why is this important to our brides? Because education is always important! Over the years I have been involved in planning weddings, I'm always learning.

There were seven stores there and touring a friends store for the first time was terrific! It was interesting to see what she does differently than The Wedding Place and in what ways we are similar!

As the President Elect of this group I'm looking forward to continued involvment. Whenever we continue to be educated, our brides are the winners! Experience in planning weddings matters!

Keep your eye on The Wedding Place. We have lots of new idea, promtions, and goodies in the near future!!

The Wedding Place is a part of the 1st Miss Torrid Pagent!

The Wedding Place was given the privledge of donating the tiara for the winner of the very first Miss Torrid Pagent this past weekend. Shown here is a closeup of the winner's tiara and a photo of Meagan wearing it just minutes after being crowned the winner.

Dawn Quick was also honored to be chosen to be a judge for this event. The pagent was held in downtown Fort Wayne at the Chamber of Commerce on Sunday July 20th. It was a beautiful summer night and Meagan and the other 16 contestents were beautiful as well!

It was so much fun being a part of this event! All of the contestants were confident, talented, and full of personality and very much enjoyed being plus sized gorgeous women and models!

Friends of The Wedding Place, June Hoffman of Megasound was the event DJ. Judy Gaulden of Photo Artistry was the official photographer. An excellent job was done by both!

Let's see what next year brings, as this promises to be just the first. It'll be hard to top this event tho as it was so well done! Thanks also to Jama from Torrid for all of the hardwork of planning. Thanks also for inviting The Wedding Place to be a part of this groundbreaking event!

What to take to the Church

'Tis the wedding season! The weather is hot and brides are thinking about their special day approaching quickly!

Here at The Wedding Place, we get lots of questions. Our brides know we've helped in hundreds of weddings. There is no substitute for experience!

Brides are asking us about what to take with them to the church on the day of the wedding to help with any emergency that may pop up. For an unexpected stain on a gown or tuxedo, we reccomend taking a box of unscented baby wipes and one of those little "Tide To Go" sticks. These have saved the day for many of our brides. Do check the fabric labels in garments tho. If it says that it contains rayon, DON'T USE ANYTHING! The stain is much better than what the cure would be!

Another quick tip for you and your bridesmaids: Use only a clear or a gel deoderant. NEVER USE THE WHITE CHALKY STUFF! This will rub off on your gown. All colors of fabric suffer from this. The white stuff is especially horrible on a black gown!

Do a little packing and planning ahead and your day will be better for it! Have a happy wedding day!

2 Be Bride Convention and the NEW GOWNS!

I have just returned from the 2 Be Bride Convention and showing in Nashville, TN. What a fun time we had seeing all of the new gowns for 2009!!

The new bridal gowns are gorgeous! The Wedding Place is so lucky to be the only ones here in Indiana to carry them! They are very sophisticated and glamorous. Perfect for the 2009 bride! I didn't know where to start!

There were dozens and dozens of other store owners to talk to. A lady who owns a store in New York City told me the newest trend that she's seeing from her brides is that they are wearing shoes to match their bridesmaids' gowns! I felt very "New York" as we've had brides do the same thing!

Back to the great gowns. Terri, who designs the gowns, told me that she finds inspiration everywhere. That's very apparent as the styles are truely original...not "cookie cutter." They are for a one of a kind bride. That sounds perfect for our Wedding Place Brides! Here is a photo taken there of Terri and me! Stop back soon for more insight into this great bridal trip!

8th Semi Annual Veil & Headpiece Extravaganza March 15,2008

Please join us for a very special Saturday, March 15, 2008!

This is one of our favorite special events. It's our 8th Semi-Annual Veil and Headpiece Extravaganza. Why is this special? Well, first, it only happens twice a year.

On this day we will have professional hairdressers and makeup artists here in the store to do your hair and makeup for free! You may consult with them for your special wedding day look.

We will have lots of lots of veils and headpieces here that day too. Some only for that day. Brand new items from the summer 2008 line of J.L. Johnson. They always send us gorgeous things for this event! Along with the latest styles, we will have closeouts available at very special prices! While they last, all one of a kind!

June Hoffman from Megasound will be here playing fun mood music and doing greetings and surveys. We're not done yet. We can't tell you what is in them as they are being assembled now, but we can tell you they are nice!

Bridal Extravaganza at the Grand Wayne Center

Get ready for a great bridal show that is this Sat Feb. 16. It is from noon - 5:00 at the Grand Wayne Center. the 1st show if it's kind since this building has been remodeled.

The Wedding Place is headlining the fashion show at 1:00 and the encore is at 3:00. The Answer Band will be providing us with live music! It will be very unique!

Christine Boulton of www.thinklikeabride.com will also be in attendance and giving mini seminars from the main stage. She will be the guest of The Wedding Place. Be sure to meet her. She has so much planning wosdon to help brides! check out her web page!
